BIO Namakula is a NYC based actor/writer/producer born to a quirky Ugandan father and a feisty Jamaican mother. This reflected in Namakula'’s unique perspective, interest in travel, foreign languages/cultures and comic books. As a result of her talent and drive, she has worked with some of the most lauded creatives in film, television and advertising including; Spike Lee, Joe Pytka, Matthew Rolston and Andrew Dosunmu.Namakula studied acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, The T. Schreiber Actors Studio and John Dapolito’'s AWG program. Her performance work runs the gamut from appearances on The Conan O'Brien Show, to stand up at NYC comedy clubs, to off Broadway shows to short films, webseries and myriad on-camera commercials and voice over bookings.Recently, Namakula has booked voice overs for Lancome, Dr. Miracle's, a TV PSA for Black History Month, (dir. Charles Stone III) and an on camera principal in an IBM industrial directed by the legendary, Joe Pytka. Currently, she can be seen in a KFC spot, (dir. Lisa Rubisch), airing since Dec 2011.As a producer, Namakula has not only worked on her own projects, but has contributed to other artists' endeavors as well. She produced two episodes of the international webseries "The Groom", written by Madrileño director, Álvaro Collar. In addition to post producing the short film "Side Effects", (dir. Leandro Sanchez). And in September 2010, she won a BEST PRODUCER award for her work on the one woman show "Asian Belle", which debuted in the Midtown International Theater Festival.In January 2012, Namakula launched her dark comedy webseries, KATE & KULA, of which she is creator/writer, producer, co-star, director and editor. The show has been garnering hundreds of views and is receiving enthusiastic buzz.Namakula is represented by bi-coastal commercial talent agency CESD and is a member of SAG, AFTRA and the WGAE. The majority of her creative works are under the umbrella of her company MUSU, named in honor of her Ugandan family clan.
