ABOUT
Namakula is a NYC based actor/writer/producer born to a quirky, academic Ugandan father and a feisty Jamaican mother. Her bi-cultural upbringing fueled her interest in foreign languages, travel and comic books. She's explored 4 continents (so far), and spent significant time and worked in the UK and Spain. Specifically, Barcelona, which for many years she considered her second home. Her philosophy is:
Do great work with good people--and it'll never feel like work.
Her performance work runs the gamut from theatre, films, TV, webseries, (check out "Kate & Kula") commercials, voice over, music and stand up comedy. Her offbeat humor has landed her comedic roles in webisodes with Amber Ruffin, a “Broad City” promo, and recently a sketch on The Daily Show with Desi Lydic. She’s worked with groundbreaking directors such as: Nzingha Stewart, Charles Stone III, David Shane, and the legendary Joe Pytka. Notably, she was the VOICE of REI's "Force of Nature" campaign, winner of the Cannes Bronze Glass Lion (2018). And, she was cast as Understudy in the 2019 Pulitzer Prize winning play,"Fairview" (original cast). You can also catch her in episodes of NBC's "New Amsterdam", "The Blacklist" and Netflix's "Inventing Anna.
Recently, Namakula ran a formidable campaign as a 2023 candidate for the office of SAG-AFTRA NY Local President.
